Hello! I am Sloan Hammer, a technical writing leader, enterprise knowledge manager, and content strategist who builds and leads the systems that turn complex information into usable knowledge.
Today, I lead technical documentation for a 10,000+ employee public company, overseeing the strategy, standards, governance, tools, and processes behind an enterprise-wide knowledge and learning ecosystem. I have built documentation programs from the ground up, led large-scale content transformations, established organization-wide standards, and developed the infrastructure that enables teams to create, manage, and maintain information at scale.
My career has taken me through the public sector (DOD Navy UARC), academia (NC State), fintech (LendingTree), and enterprise information services (Martin Marietta), but curiosity has always been at the center of my work. I love getting dropped into something complicated, figuring out how all the pieces fit together, and deciding how to make it work better. Give me a messy knowledge problem, a complex system, or something no one quite knows how to explain yet, and I am in my element.
When I am not writing, you can usually find me hiking in the woods, snuggling with my dog, watching Penn State Football (WE ARE!), sitting on a plane, or behind a camera. I love traveling and photography, and some of my favorite photos from along the way are featured throughout this site.
